Formation How the Africa School Assistance Project was formed

ASAP was formed in 2008 by a group of Coloradans who wanted to give something back. All had traveled extensively throughout the world and had seen first hand how what to Americans is a small amount of money can make a huge difference in people’s lives.

After considering a number of locations the group partnered with the Earth Assistance Foundation and began work in Tanzania.

A group of 14 raised money for completion of a school in Mbaaseny in Tanzania. In July 2008 the group members paid their own way to Tanzania and worked in the village for five days.

The journey and Mbaaseny project served as a pilot project and proved the thesis that ASAP had the resources to raise money to build schools in rural Tanzania. Two new schools and additional work in Mbaaseny were completed in 2009.  More projects are currently being planned for the summer of 2010.
