Many Tanzanian communities feel demoralized about the state of their schools. ASAP believes that when school facilities improve then academic results will follow. This has been the case with our two primary schools. Students from Mbaaseny Primary and Kirenga Primary recently sat for the national Standard 4 Exams. Mbaaseny ranked an astonishing 10th out of 120 schools in the District and Kirenga ranked 17th. This is a remarkable result for new schools in poor, disadvantaged communities. ASAP has worked at Mbaaseny and Kirenga for two years each. We are continuing our work at schools in the district with the expectation that academic results will continue to improve for the children throughout the area.

The Africa School Assistance Project helps rural Africans build schools for their children and each summer leads groups of American volunteers to work on our adopted schools.

It is our mission to increase school capacity in Tanzania while fostering among American volunteers an understanding of life in impoverished Africa.
